Risk Assurance Manager reporting to the Head of Risk & Analytics
The Risk Assurance Manager is responsible for the development and delivery of the Risk Assurance Plan, for monitoring adherence to risk policy and for reducing Fraud to within Oakam's Risk appetite.
The Risk Assurance Manager will:
• Work with all support functions to develop a robust, effective Risk Assurance Plan that will give assurance around the key elements of Oakam's risk and control environment.
• Deliver the Risk Assurance Plan, an important element of which is the Retail Audit programme covering credit risk policies, such as underwriting, as well as operational policies, such as Health & Safety and Data Protection. Deliverables include the highlighting of potential concerns and recommendations for improving Oakam's risk and control environment.
• Monitor adherence to risk policy in stores and in Operations.
• Promote a compliance culture throughout the organisation through monitoring, reporting, recommendations, driving change and personal example.
The Risk Assurance Manager is also responsible for reducing Fraud losses through: the development and delivery of the fraud management strategy, the identification of weaknesses and the implementation of controls, and the efficient and effective investigation, prevention, analysis and monitoring of Fraud losses.
The role will initially have 2 direct reports. The number of direct reports is expected to increase with the roll-out of Oakam's store opening programme.
You will need effective negotiation, organisation and time management skills. Be comfortable working cross-functionally and at all levels of the organisation. You need to be numerate, logical, and rigorous, with strong attention to detail. Be able to deal with sensitive issues tactfully and confidentially. You must be commercially aware and keep abreast of regulatory developments and best practice.
To be considered for this role you will need a proven track record in retail financial services. Have relevant credit risk experience and a proven track record of internal audit and/or Fraud prevention. If you have managed a small team previously, that would be an added bonus.
Ideally you will have numerate degree and/or relevant professional qualifications. The profile of the candidate to be considered will be someone who is willing to question and challenge the status-quo. Displays a can-do attitude, who is persistent, and a lateral thinker. You must have a continuous improvement mindset. Some travel can be necessary to the Midlands.
