Develop and maintain processes for grant and contract management; ensuring they remain applicable to current donor requirements, in particular ECHO, DEVCO and DFID commercial contracts
C. Financial and Risk Management related to institutional grants
Proactively manage grant and contract performance, working with colleagues to identifying risks and minimize them
Coordinating with Finance Departments in IRC's offices in London and New York Support contract negotiations as required
D. External Representation
Participate in VOICE ECHO Framework Partnership Watch Group meetings and other relevant fora, as necessary
Person specification
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
- Proven ability to lead a high performing and diverse team, manage performance, foster a positive working environment and manage issues sensitively and diplomatically
- Extensive knowledge of European institutional donors and their compliance requirements with proven experience of developing successful funding proposals and overseeing large complex grants
- Experience in European institutional donor audits at project, country and HQ level
- Excellent understanding of the principles of budgeting, financial and contract management
- Outcome focused and proven ability to think strategically and plan, prioritise and organise a department/team's work to meet organisation-wide strategic objectives
- Proven ability to operate in a complex organisation, across functions and countries and work on own initiative and collaboratively as part of diverse teams
- Excellent influencing, presentation and communication skills including verbal and written English, active listening and the ability to tailor communication to different audiences
- Ability to manage a large and varied workload, work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Illustrated commitment to, and a good understanding of, the IRC's values and mandate and the ability to bring these alive in your work
- Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
- Degree/masters in a subject related to the IRC's work
- Financial modelling or contract negotiation experience.
- Experience with commercial tender and or fund manager mechanisms
