Oxford HR is helping the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, an independent private foundation, to recruit a new Africa Social Investment Manager/Director,as part of their Africa senior management team. This new role requires substantial commercial investment experience to help the Gatsby Africa team to structure, oversee and manage their social investments in micro-finance and a range of agricultural enterprises and funds. The Director will sit on the boards of all organisations where Gatsby has investments to ensure oversight, organisational strengthening and the execution of appropriate business strategy and effective governance. As a member of Gatsby Africa’s Senior Management Team, s/he will advise and engage with Gatsby’s broader work and investment opportunities.
The successful candidate will be a senior professional with a breadth of experience in overseeing a range of investments, ideally in agribusiness in East Africa. Proven experience in undertaking due-diligence, structuring investment deals and exits, and sitting on boards of companies is essential. S/he will be a team player with excellent judgement, communication and interpersonal skills, and empathy with Gatsby’s mission.
Final interviews will take place in London in the first half of January 2014. Please note that candidates for this post wishing to be based in London must have the right to work in the UK. There is an option for the post to be based in Nairobi.
