The Role
Applications are invited for a full-time, fixed term (for one year) Lecturer in Philosophy to make a
substantial contribution to teaching.
The primary purposes of this role are to produce excellent research in philosophy and to provide high-quality philosophy teaching at University level. The candidate will be expected to show how they can link with existing research in the Department to form effective research clusters and to collaborate in the development of future joint research projects and funding. It is also important for the candidate to take a full part in the School of European Culture and Languages, including its research lectures and programmes and to forge links across the School, Faculty and wider University.
At undergraduate level we have particular teaching needs amongst the modules: Aesthetics; Logic; Knowledge and Metaphysics: Descartes to Kant; Existentialism; Politics, Rights and Applied Ethics. In addition, the candidate may be expected to contribute to MA seminar teaching.

The Person
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Philosophy (successful viva at time of application) and a record of international excellence in research and publication. You will have teaching experience and a strong commitment to personal excellence in teaching at undergraduate level and a willingness to teach at MA level. Experience in the development of taught programmes of study at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels and the ability to deliver effective teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level in Philosophy is essential.
