The role
Emergencies provide a unique opportunity to not only attract new supporters to Save the Children but to also deepen our current donor relationships. In order to increase the amount Save the Children raises from Emergencies, coordination and sharing between Members before, during and after emergencies must be improved. It is felt that a dedicated resource is needed in this area to ensure that individual member and collective Save the Children capacity in the area of Emergency fundraising is strengthened through:

* developing and managing improved systems of sharing and coordination of emergency fundraising efforts
* making available content which is appropriate for the easy development of successful fundraising materials
* providing support to Members to build their capacity and preparedness for Emergency fundraising and show them how it fits into their overall Fundrais ing strategy
* identifying new channels and fundraising opportunities to be tested and deployed
* sharing and comparing best practices in emergency fundraising

This role aims to deliver our messaging swiftly to target audiences, amplify our voice to speak on behalf of children affected by emergencies, and ultimately to raise more money both for our immediate Emergency programme responses and for our wider program portfolio.

Qualifications and experience
Essential
* Ideally the candidate will have previous practical experience in an emergency fundraising role within a complex organisation and understanding of the humanitarian sector.
* Significant hands on experience of coordinating individual fundraising programmes across most direct marketing techniques (press, direct mail, telemarketing, digital)
* Knowledge of general marketing techniques and principles
* Experience of managing and analysing comp lex numerical data from multiple sources
* Excellent analytical, conceptual and communication skills (both verbal and written).
* Verbal and written fluency in English. The ability to work in a second language would be a strong advantage
* Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with proven experience of relationship management with stakeholders
* Entrepreneurial with the ability to rapidly adapt to changing circumstances, whilst maintaining focus on the end goal.
* The ability to influence others, to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and to act with credibility, tact and diplomacy
* Self-confident and enthusiastic team player who can secure support from a diverse project team to achieve agreed goals
* Ability to work on own initiative without close supervision
* Strong time management skills with an ability to anticipate requirements, problems and obstacles across a larg e and diverse workload in a fast paced environment, working to short and long-term objectives and tight deadlines
* Ability to juggle competing priorities successfully
* A full appreciation of the value of co-operation, both internationally and within a team environment
* Ability to think creatively and strategically
* Experience of strategic use of new media (internet, mobile and others)
* Commitment to the aims and objectives of Save the Children

Desirable

* Experience of fundraising for emergencies with individuals through a number of channels, especially with digital. Experience with Corporate and Institutional fundraising would also be an asset
* Experience of working in a central support function servicing multiple members/markets in knowledge sharing and campaign support.

The location for this role is flexible within any of the countries where Save the Children operate.
