The role
The Roving Award Manager will be responsible for supporting Save the Children International (SCI) country offices to implement effective award management processes and ensure a smooth transition into new ways of working whilst still delivering quality management of the country office’s active funding. They will provide in-country surge for award management during the first 3 months after transition of Merlin programs into the SCI country office.
The Roving Award Manager will need to work closely with many different staff throughout SCI, including the Head of Award Management and the centre finance team, SCI Regional Office teams and country office SMT and staff from finance and award management teams as well as staff from merlin in both country offices and Merlin HQ in London. They will also support country offices in liaising with members and sometimes lead those discussions.
This position will require frequent travel to SCI regional and country offices and the role holder will be asked to be flexible enough to travel at short notice, if required, and to be based overseas for up to a month at a time
Qualifications and experience
* Experience in INGO award management at a country level, including proposa l development, donor reporting and audit management.
* Excellent project management and prioritisation skills; strong organizational and follow-up skills
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills, notably ability to translate strategy into practical action, understand risk factors and put in place mitigations; strong attention to detail
* Ability to work effectively under tight timelines and potential crisis scenarios
* Outstanding interpersonal skills; able to professionally interact with diverse employees, from entry-level to upper-level management
* Ability to work successfully in a matrix organisation and “manage” teams and individuals who are not line reports
* Strong communications skills
* verbal and written fluency in English. The ability to work in a second language would be a strong advantage
* Solid skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint applications
* Be able to travel at short notice up to 60% of the time
Th is role will be offered as a fixed term contract until 31st December 2013. The location can be flexible to any location where SCI has a presence.
