The Head of Humanitarian Operations (HHO) is a dynamic role that is central to the effective development
and coordination of key strands of CAFOD’s humanitarian work. The post holder is a senior member of the Humanitarian Department Management Team (HDMT) working closely with the Head of Humanitarian Department and the two Regional Heads of Humanitarian Programmes (HHP) on the vision, direction and delivery of our humanitarian mandate.

The Head of Humanitarian Operations will hold particular responsibility for the deployment of our Global Surge Team into Regional programmes, oversight of our partner capacity development programme, leading on departmental planning, monitoring and reporting, and oversight of financial management and supporting new funding initiatives. The HHO is also responsible for coordinating the development and integration of thematic elements of CAFOD’s humanitarian work, particularly our Humanitarian DRR work, and liaising closely with CAFOD’s Thematic Advisors covering protection, conflict, accountability, gender, HIV, safeguarding, livelihoods, water and environment.

Candidates should have demonstrated experience of humanitarian response in different contexts and related thematic understanding. A commitment to delivering programmes through partnership while understanding of the complexities of doing so is a must as is experience in strategy development, planning processes, implementation, reporting and contingency planning.
